Let your furry friend in on the Easter festivities with an Easter basket of their own. We made a dog Easter basket for our two pups this year and it was so much fun! There are lots of adorable toys options and special treats you can either make yourself at home or buy at the store for your dog this Easter season. See what we put in our dog's Easter basket as well as recommendations for more basket stuffers.

WHAT'S IN OUR BASKET?
First, consider the size of the basket you'll need to fit the toys going in it. The size of toys and the size of a dog tend to correlate, so a large dog will most likely need a larger basket than a small dog. A basket with a tall handle is ideal so that there's room for them to sniff around and take the toys out themselves.
I chose not to include the fake grass at the bottom of my dog's basket because I didn't want them accidentally ingesting it.
Basket Toys
Choose the kinds of toys and gifts that your dog will enjoy the most! For a plushy toy, we added a large Lambchop. We also included a soft hide-and-seek toy with little plush bunnies inside a jumbo carrot for a puzzle toy. Another carrot dog toy we included was a rubber squeaky toy by Multipet. We also got a squeaky ball by Multipet, which was a fast favorite.
Basket Treats
I like to make easy homemade treats by pureeing human-grade ingredients, like pumpkin, and freezing them in a festive mold. You can do this with other natural ingredients like purred carrot or sweet potato. Both our dogs received a bag of carrot and rabbit-shaped pumpkin and yogurt frozen Easter dog treats, as well as their favorite jerky treats from Trader Joe's in their basket!
They had a great time digging through their basket and playing with their Easter gifts. It was a great way to celebrate with our beloved pets and I'll take any excuse to get them some dog toys!

DOG TREATS
DOG EASTER APPAREL
Can't decide what to get your pup? Put a gift card in the basket (make sure they don't chew it up of course!) and treat them to a shopping trip at their favorite store. Take them on a walk down the aisle and they can pick out a new toy for themselves!
Should you put Easter eggs in your dog's basket?
I would recommend considering how your dog interacts with their own toys and household objects. I know my own dogs would be tempted to chew on them and I would be worried about them cutting themselves on the sharp plastic edges or choking. A safer option would be to include some kind of egg-shaped treat to represent the easter eggs in a basket.
